Learn all about how to obtain and manage your Georgia Tech school ID.
Effective immediately, the production and distribution of BuzzCards for all Online Master’s students will pause until the Fall semester of 2025. We will resume the printing process on 09/01/2025. Please do not submit photos or add money to your account after 04/30/2025. Thank You.
Welcome to Georgia Tech! Now that you are a new student at the university, you should complete the process to receive your BuzzCard as it serves as your source of identification around campus and acts as your key to much of campus life.
New Students
After you have confirmed your acceptance to Georgia Tech, you are eligible to receive a BuzzCard.
On-Campus Students:
- Upload an image of yourself that follows the appropriate criteria and an image of your government-issued photo ID to the BuzzCard eAccounts portal.
- Check your email to confirm that your image was verified for use on your BuzzCard.
- Receive your BuzzCard when you get to campus for the start of the semester.
- Students living on-campus may pick up their BuzzCards at the Area Office when they check-in for housing.
- Students living off-campus may pick up their BuzzCards at the BuzzCard Center.
Online Students:
Domestic Online Students (USA Only)
1. To have a BuzzCard shipped to you, you will first need to make a non-refundable deposit of $20 to the Buzz Card eAccount Web Portal.
2. Upload an image of yourself that follows the appropriate criteria and an image of your government-issued photo ID to the BuzzCard eAccounts portal.
3. Send an online degree student BuzzCard request to Buzzcard Center (select Online Masters Program on the ‘type of request’ drop down, include the mailing address in your request).
4. After your request has been received, the $20 uploaded to your BuzzCard eAccount Web Portal will be deducted and your BuzzCard will be shipped to you.
5. You will receive a non-chip BuzzCard with the “Student-O” designation. If you visit in person, you may swap your current card for a chip card with on-campus access for $5.
International Online Students (Online Master of Science in Computer Science)
1. Please fill out the following survey. We will ship OMSCS International BuzzCard twice per year in September and February.
2. To have a BuzzCard shipped to you, you will first need to make a non-refundable deposit of $30 to the Buzz Card eAccount Web Portal.
3. Upload an image of yourself that follows the appropriate criteria and an image of your government-issued photo ID to the BuzzCard eAccounts portal.
4. After your request has been received, the $30 uploaded to your BuzzCard eAccount Web Portal will be deducted and your BuzzCard will be shipped to you.
5. Please note shipping for international cards takes approximately two months to arrive at your destination. You will receive a non-chip BuzzCard with the “Student-O” designation. If you visit in person, you may swap your current card for a chip card with on-campus access.
To avoid delays, please check that the required fee has been successfully deposited to your BuzzCard Funds. PFP funds may not be used to purchase a BuzzCard.
Beginning January 2025, online students will receive a non-chip BuzzCard for a reduced fee of $20 (USA) or $30 (International). The non-chip card cannot be used on-campus for purchases but may be exchanged for a chip card in-person for a $5 fee.

You can use your BuzzCard for discounts and rewards at Barnes & Noble and other local retail merchants.
Meal Plans
You can set up a meal plan and use your BuzzCard to pay for meals around Georgia Tech’s dining locations.
Access Funds
You can add funds to your BuzzCard to make purchases at over 200 hundred locations around campus.
Transportation
You can use your BuzzCard to access various parking and transportation services around campus.
Recreation
You can use your BuzzCard to access recreation and entertainment options around campus year round.

Management
Students and their parents / guardians can easily manage BuzzCards by adding additional monetary funds, checking current account balances, and monitoring transaction history through the web and mobile BuzzCard eAccount portals.
Students

Parents
In order to manage your student’s BuzzCard, you will also sign into the BuzzCard eAccount web portal and establish a preferred payment method. Please be sure you know the gtID number as well as the first and last given name of the beneficiary to ensure that you are able to manage the BuzzCard.

BuzzCard eAccount Parent Access
Replacement
Should you need to replace your BuzzCard, please visit the BuzzCard Center located at the Pavilion @ Georgia Tech.
- It is free to replace a non-functioning BuzzCard (the non-function card must be turned in).
- It costs $30 for on-campus students and $20 for online students to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged BuzzCard.
